The Short of the Season

The trendiest short of the season is the denim short. And, thankfully, they aren’t made like they use to be! The newest denim shorts are soft, stretchy and sexier than ever! Select a dark rinse denim wash for the most stylish, flattering and universal look. These shorts are cute with flip flops and flat sandals by day and easily dress up with a wedge-heel for evening.

A Faux Summer Glow

It’s that time of year…when I just cannot stand my pale winter skin for one more minute and reach for the self-tanner to get me through until I can get some real sun on my skin! Real tan or fake tan, let’s be honest…everyone looks better, slimmer, healthier with a bit of color on their skin.

Thought I’d share my favorite self tanner and also ask you to share yours, since I always love trying new products! Ever since the recommendation a few years back from my friend, Nicole, I have been a “self-tanner loyalist” to Loreal’s Sublime Bronze Self-Tanner. I used to adore the “Deep” shade, but it has literally vanished off the shelves at every store I’ve visited in the Atlanta-area {which has literally been dozens during my desperate hunt!!} over the past year. I now use the “Medium” shade, which I still like but takes a few more layers to achieve the same color as the “Deep” does in just one application. However, I just found the “Deep” Sublime Bronze listed on Amazon and am elated!! I like that this product gives instant color while it develops lasting color over a few hours. Who doesn’t love instant gratification, right?!

the white denim jacket…a spring “must-have”

A white denim jacket is a spring/summer “must-have” in my book. Unlike it’s blue-denim counterpart, this white version of the classic jean jacket can be worn with blue jeans and almost everything else! I utilize my white jean jacket as the perfect layering piece to help transition sundresses, skirt-outfits and sleeveless tops from cooler spring months into the heat of summer. It’s the perfect jacket for cool nights at the beach and the ideal travel-companion, since you can virtually pair it with anything in your summer-vacation wardrobe.

Today, a client I was styling on a shopping trip, tried on a really great white denim jacket at The Loft (pictured above). Priced at a reasonable $69.50, this jacket fits to a “T.” It’s perfectly fitted, cropped and the sleeves are a lovely three-quarter length that can also be cuffed for an even shorter sleeve.

If you are on the market for a white jean jacket this season (and I think you should be!), this one is definitely one to try! {Remember, this jacket is supposed to be fitted, so buy the size that fits snug for the most stylish and flattering fit.}

Ruffles for Everyone

My clients are often surprised to hear me recommend wearing ruffles for figure flattery. Though it’s true that ruffles can occasionally add bulge where “extra” is not wanted, most ruffled shirts and blouses actually act as a slenderizer. Both tiered and vertical ruffled tops minimize large busts and/or belly bulge. So many of my clients have been thrilled to incorporate a few ruffled blouses into their wardrobe as staple layering pieces for wear both alone and under cardigans and jackets. Two ultra-flattering ruffled tops I’ve tried on recently (and can vouch for flattery!) are pictured below::

Jackets for a Deal

I went on my first Christmas shopping trip this week… with a goal of just window shopping. I’m rather picky when it comes to gift buying and prefer shopping around before deciding on the perfect picks for my loved ones. To my surprise, I found myself in love with at least one thing in almost every store we went in! The unplanned theme of the shopping trip was jackets…and if I didn’t have so many already I would added one of these beauties to my own wish list.

I was amazed when I walked in to the Lucky Brand store and saw this adorable faux fur bolero (pictured above). The picture doesn’t do it justice! It’s currently on-sale for $109.00. It’s the ideal layering piece for dressing up jeans or complementing a LBD..so cute.

An Around-Town Lounge Pant

There’s just something about cold weather that makes me want to dress as comfy and cozy as much as possible…and being 8 months pregnant these days really emphasizes this! That’s why I’m thrilled about J.Crew’s new Skinny Ultra-Lounge Pant ($49.50). It’s the ultimate lounge pant that can double as leggings that you can wear out and about. Simply swap your slippers for a pair of casual boots or Uggs, pull on a sweater and you can transition these pants from around-the-house lounge pants to a cute around-about-town look. Most of the time, I prefer to pile on the layers when I dress, always having been decidedly firm on the need for a third piece. I enjoy being adventurous with my styling choices because it gives me a chance to express myself. But some times, it feels refreshing and new to wear less. Whether it be less color combination’s, less layering or less design detail, this look can be powerful.

No matter what your personal style preferences are, please dress true to yourself. As you know, fashion trends are fleeting, but if you stick with what makes you feel beautiful, you will look radiant for years to come.

Cozy Coats for under $100

I don’t know about the weather where you live, but here in Atlanta, it feels like we’ve transitioned straight from summer to winter, skipping fall all together! The past week or so has been quite chilly (and this very-preggo lady is not complaining!). It’s time to think about your outerwear options for this winter season and I’ve had fun searching for some affordable, yet very stylish, coats.

Here are my top picks for coats under $100::

Converse One Star Olive Heather Coat, $69.99. This military inspired coat has great button-details and a flattering belt.

Steve Madden Tiered Ruffle Coat, $98. Love the teal color. This coat is super flirty and fun!
