Reading books with my children at bedtime is one of my favorite moment’s of the day, and something my husband and I have made a nightly tradition. There is nothing sweeter than cuddling with your kiddos with a good book after a busy day. My six-year-old twins, Jack and Lily, and not yet proficient readers on their own, so this summer we are making it a priority to continue reading books out loud to them daily.
When a college friend, Jacob Stull, recently published his first book, The King’s Locket, that he wrote for his own two daughters, I was immediately excited to read it with Jack and Lily. The book is a classic fairy tale about betrayal, forgiveness and unconditional love. It’s truly a beautiful and intriguing read for adults and kids alike.
As we have read and re-read The King’s Locket with Jack and Lily, one of the things I have most appreciated is that it’s a book that encourages questions and dialog. Each time we read it, we each discover new details and meaning.
The King’s Locket also includes fourteen hand-drawn illustrations that bring the story to life.
Jack and Lily have also enjoyed their The King’s Locket coloring books. These coloring books have been a great Summertime activity, as my kid’s enjoy coloring pictures of the characters they have come to know through the book.
