Today we are kicking off a new monthly column on “Kid Style!” We have had numerous requests over the past months to post tips and trends for dressing babes and kiddos, since so many of our readers are moms to little ones.
Nautical looks are trending just as much for kids as for adults this Spring. Nautical styles are classic and easy to wear and also to coordinate between multiple kids, for picture-taking, etc. Keep in mind that children can more easily pull off vivid color and pattern mixes, so don’t be afraid to mix stripes with plaid or floral and bright punches of color. And remember that matchy-matchy is out…especially if you are outfit planning for spring family pictures. It’s more than okay to take risks combining prints, patterns and color schemes. And nautical stripes and patterns play well with bright colors such as yellows, reds, greens and pinks, making it an easy style to experiment with mixing it up!
Here is how I styled my three-year-old twins, Jack and Lily, in stripes, anchors and bright pops of yellow. {See below pictures for outfit details. Our looks are primarily from Old Navy, who has an awesome selection of nautical looks for the entire family in store and online now.}
