I am excited to finally share with you our laundry room makeover!
When we purchased our 26+ year old home in 2020, the laundry room was COMPLETELY original and, frankly, kind of gross. We purchased new laundry machines at move-in but I pretty much kept the door closed at all times! We finally started to gut the room in January, and am so happy with how this little space turned out. It truly transformed from “yuk” and depressing to fresh and HAPPY!
Here’s a before and after …
Switching the plumbing and moving the washer and dryer made a such a drastic difference in the space. It’s hard to tell from these pics, but the room feels so much more roomy now. We tore out all the old cabinets and then realized, once we were into the project that the flooring also needed replaced, due to that ugly white plastic “drain!”
I would have loved to install herringbone subway tile for the floor, but since flooring was not originally planned for, we didn’t want to invest in marble flooring in this space. Instead I chose a white hexigon-shape tile from Floor & Decor to create a clean-looking, non-slippery floor. The hex tile provides some visual interest and was very budget-friendly! I am happy with how it turned out!
Speaking of tile, how gorgeous is this wall tile, also from Floor and Decor?! Truly a show-stopper.
I always had a vision of wallpapering this wall with something eye-catching and cheery. This Kimono wallpaper by Anna French for Thibaut was an easy yes! I sourced from local Gregory’s Paint and Flooring, who I highly recommend and is my go-to for all my wallpaper needs!
I found this cute light at Crate & Barrel Kids.
Another “show-stopper” in this space is the lighting behind the open shelves. It truly makes the stunning tile pop and adds a pretty glow day and night.
Our custom cabinets, open shelves and quartz counter are from Panda Cabinets. They were great to work with!
These oversized glass jars from Walmart are both pretty and practical for holding our laundry supplies.
All in all, I could not be happier with how this little space came together! It definitely makes doing laundry a lot more enjoyable!
