It’s finally almost-Spring, and time to get hair and wardrobe ready for sunnier skies and warmer weather! Two must-have things for Spring are healthy, radiant hair and a wear-anywhere dress in the must-have fabric of the season, chambray.
You’ve heard me talk about chambray if you watched my Spring Style video from a post earlier this week. This chambray dress is an essential in my book since it is crazy comfy and perfect with flats, wedge or block heels and any color accessories! Here’s another fab and very affordable option.
As a new blogger ambassador for Sassoon, I am excited to team up with the Atlanta Sassoon creative director, Stephanie Fritz, to talk getting hair Spring-ready. {This gal gives the most amazing blow-outs ever, by the way!}
I asked Stephanie what she recommends for vibrant Spring hair and I’m going to let her, as the expert on this subject, take it from here ::
After Winter our tresses are typically parched from the cold, dry weather, blasting our heaters, and blow-drying our hair every time we shower because brrrrrrrrr. Our hair looks dry and frizzy and I can’t even handle the static!
I think getting our hair ready for Spring can be broken down into 4 steps: Regular haircuts, treatments, shampoo & conditioner, and styling products.
Haircuts – Regular trims are super important, especially as Winter comes to an end for a few reasons:
- Hair has been stuffed under caps and into scarves causing the ends to fray.
- Hair has been over styled during the Holiday season- all those parties means lots of hot tools and those ends are splitting or close to it!
- A lot of times we grow our hair during the Winter for the warmth factor, so it’s just been there longer and has received more abuse over the cold months.
Because of these factors hair is begging for a snip! Whether it’s a big change or a baby trim, a cut will make the ends look fresh and clean as well as make your hair look fuller rather than having stringy ends (Nobody wants that!). I recommend a trim every 6 weeks to maintain a style and every 10 weeks to grow hair out.
Treatments – Treatments are a great way to see immediate results! Kerastase Fusio-dose in-salon treatments offer a wide range of focus areas and you can mix and match your base and booster! For coming out of winter, I’d go with a base of Concentre Oleo-fusion (moisture) and the Booster Discipline (manageability) if your hair is dry and frizzy or Booster Reconstruction (reparative) if your hair is dry and damaged. These treatments are instant so they don’t add extra time on to an appointment and you can feel the results the second a comb is run through your wet hair. I recommend getting a treatment at least once a month! Here’s that excuse to get that extra blowout a month!
Shampoo & Conditioner – Moisture! We want to give our hair a surge of moisture and get it ready for the heat and the Sun! My favorites are the super moisturizing Kerastase Bain Nutri-Thermique and Nutri-Thermique Masque. What I like so much about these products is that they love HOT water! The heat activates all their super hydrating/nourishing goodness! No more cold showers or cool rinses to lock in moisture if you add these to your regimen.
Styling products – The icing on the cake. Styling products not only help us achieve the look that we want but they all help us maintain the care we give to it during treatments, shampooing, and conditioning. If you’re using hot tools you best friend should always be heat protectant! My favorite being Kerastase Fluidissime, this light weight spray that protects your hair from heat up to 450 degrees and destroys frizz! Plus, it fights against humidity for 72 hours and detangles and cuts blow-dry time in half! That last one is reason enough to use it forever!
With all of these things in order your hair will be ready for the Spring in no time!
Happy Weekend!
