It’s officially boot season! If you don’t own a few pairs of boots and booties that you absolutley LOVE, this is the time to invest in a new pair or two.
How many pairs of boots should a gal ideally own?!
Here is my rule of thumb :: For a well-rounded Fall/Winter boot wardrobe, owning both a pair of tall brown/taupe and a pair of tall black boots is key. If you can invest in just one fab pair of tall boots, I would recommend starting with a taupe, since it’s a versatile neutral that also pairs well with black. Black boots are typically dressier than brown, so if you are looking for a dressy boot for evening wear, go with a black heeled pair!
When it comes to booties, I also recommend starting with taupe for a primary pair. Once you own a comfy pair of “neutral” booties, you can add black, gray or a fun color or pattern like burgundy or leopard! I personally live in booties day in and day out from late summer to early Spring, so I have developed quite a collection! This pair {pictured above} and this pair are my current go-to’s for running errands and doing activities with the kids.
Can I wear Over-the-Knee boots if I am petite?!
Yes, you can! This is one of the most asked question I receive each Fall as a personal stylist/fashion blogger. Over the knee boots lengthen and flatter every leg, regardless of height or size. Since not all over the knee boots hit at the same spot, you may need to try a few pairs if you are petite to find the perfect height for your frame.
Here’s my roundup of the best boots and booties for Fall, in numerical order corresponding to the picture above. Note that all of these boots come in a variety of colors, so if you like a style, be sure to click the link to shop all the color choices.
1. Marc Fisher Over the Knee Boot, low heel. These are really the perfect low-heeled boot. They are gorgeous and look a lot like this much more expensive version!
2. Halogen Over the Knee Boot :: It can be difficult to find a gorgeous gray boot, and this one is the perfect shade! I love how sleek it is.
3. Vince Camuto Over the Knee Boot, low heel :: Another fab low-heeled boot option. It can be hard to find a casual black boot and I love this one.
4. Born Over the Knee Boot :: I love this rich shade of brown. These are super-comfy, too!
5. Marc Fisher Over the Knee Boot, high heel :: This is the high-heeled version of #1 and truly my favorite high-heeled over-the-knee boot on the market. These are simply stunning on the leg!
6. Vince Camuto Oxblood Over the Knee Boot :: I added a pair of oxblood-colored boots to my collection last Fall and was pleasantly surprised by how much they paired with! I love wearing mine with neutrals like black and gray.
7. Vince Camuto Over-the-Knee Boot, high-heel :: These were one of my best purchases from this year’s Nordstrom Sale, and they just went on sale again for 33% off! I am pictured wearing them with denim skirt above.
8. Dolce Vita Sock Booties :: The “sock bootie” is a trending style this season and this pair is gorgeous! I also love it in nude. This is a great pair of “dressy” booties.
9. Splendid Oxblood Suede Booties :: This is the color of the season and pairs with SO much! I love how this style bootie dresses up or down. {I am wearing them in the picture below.}
10. BP. Block Heel Bootie :: This is one of the best under-$100 pairs of block heeled booties on the market. This cognac-brown color is gorgeous!
11. Linea Paolo Bootie-Sneakers :: This are just about the cutest casual booties I have EVER seen, and I just ordered them for myself! They come in lots of color options including camo!!
12. Vince Camuto White Booties :: White booties are trending this season in a major way. If you are a trend-setter, this is a fun look to try! These are great looking booties that also come in lots of other colors, including red, which is another hot color for booties!
13. Vince Camuto Booties :: This is another favorite purchase of mine from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. These look amazing with jeans and also with with casual dresses and skirts!
14. Sole Society Booties :: These comfy booties come in SEVEN colors and are now 40% off and just $59!! I have them in cognac and they are my go-to boots for busy days running around with the kiddos.
Last but not least, I failed to include leopard booties in the above round-up pic! Leopard booties are huge this season and very versatile, since leopard-print pairs with just about everything! This is the pair I am pictured wearing below and these is a similar and very affordable pair at Target.
