I am almost positive that this Anthropologie dress is the very first velvet piece I have purchased in 10 years. I wore lots of velvet in the 90’s {the movie Clueless was major fashion inspiration for me during high school!}, and honestly haven’t had a desire to wear it since. Until this season…
Velvet is trending this Fall, and I have been intrigued by the gorgeous styles available, from dresses to jackets to shoes and handbags. This Fall’s velvets look richer and more sophisticated than ever…way different than the velvet trends of the 90’s!
When I saw this velvet Anthropologie tunic dress in the store, I had to have it! I was drawn its casual and hip take on velvet, and envisioned it being worn with my favorite casual booties, like I have styled it here, as well as paired with over the knee boots, over tights or faux-leather leggings.
This velvet dress, and the necklace I bought to pair with it, have been two of the best purchases I have made this Fall. This dress is a stand-out piece in a unique, gorgeous color and is so comfortable! {Note that this dress runs blousy and long! I am 5’7 and initially purchased an XS but it was too long and hit almost at my knee top, so I exchanged for an XS Petite. If you are tall/long-legged, the regular length should be perfect on you!}
If you are looking for something to wear for upcoming family Fall/holiday photos, this outfit is perfect! {All of you moms will appreciate its flattery and that the hemline is longer in the back.}
Velvet also makes fabulous holiday style. Add a touch of velvet to any outfit to make it holiday-ready. Don’t be afraid to mix velvet with casual pieces to create an effortless, chic look. Try pairing velvet shoes or a velvet handbag with jeans, or wearing a velvet blazer over a simple tee.
